This glossary contains words about my field of study, Police Technology. These words are not familiar for everyone. There are some examples and definitions from Google.
Adjourn
verb
To postpone, often referring to court.
Example: The trial was adjourned to a later date.

Arrest
verb
seize (someone) by legal authority and take into custody
Example: Hugo got arrested for killing his ex-girlfriend

Bail
verb
the temporary release of an accused person awaiting trial, sometimes on condition that a sum of money be lodged to guarantee their appearance in court
Example: He was granted bail at a cost of $4,000 and released and was due back in court on 14 September

Contusion
noun
A region of injured tissue or skin in which blood capillaries have been ruptured, a bruise.
Example: The officer suffered two contusions; one to his left forearm and the second to his lower lip

Exonerate
Verb
absolve (someone) from blame for a fault or wrongdoing, especially after due consideration of the case
Example: They should exonerate these men from this crime

Incarceration
noun
the state of being confined in prison; imprisonment
Example: She was incarcerated after her trial found her guilty

Laceration
noun
A deep cut to the skin / flesh.
Example: After the brawl, he realised he had suffered a laceration to his left thigh.

Law
noun
A rule defining correct procedure.
Example: Follow the law or you'll get in prison.

Lynch
verb
To kill someone for an offence without trial
Example: They lynched him, hung him up and left him to die

Perjury
noun
Telling a lie whilst under oath.
Example: He committed perjury by lying to the court about his whereabouts on the night

Protection
noun
the action of protecting, or the state of being protected
Example: The police must ensure the protection of citizens.

Sequester
verb
To isolate.
Example: The police officer sequestered the suspect in the local park.

Slander
verb
To make a false spoken statement about an individual’s reputation.
Example: He slandered Michael’s character in public by claiming that he was a pedophile

Subpoena
noun
A writ ordering an individual to appear in court.
Example: Hillary Clinton was issued a subpoena to appear in court to answer questions on the missing 33,000 emails

Warrant
noun
An authorization for the police to arrest someone or to act, such as search premises.
Example: A warrant was issued for his arrest. He was found and arrested later that day
